Amnesia: Rebirth

Team Wabbit’s Ferrara division is as excited for the arrival of October as most people are for Christmas, because not only are pumpkins important in the local cooking, but they are also the symbol of Halloween!

Italy adopted the scariest festival of the year some time ago, and so for this month’s newsletter we decided to tell you about our work on the localisation of Amnesia: Rebirth, the new game in the horror series which dates back to 2010.

When Testronic asked us to assist them with the localisation project for Amnesia: Rebirth as reviewers, we jumped at the chance to work on the new chapter in Frictional Games‘ terrifying series.

The developer’s website states that the idea for this new chapter was originally simple and fairly linear, with an expected release date of 2017 or 2018. But things changed when the game began to grow in both size and ambition.

They realised that they didn’t want their sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Descent to be a mere “side-project”, but rather they wanted it to incorporate all the lessons they had learned over the years and to expand on the loose threads from the first game.

The past few years have also seen a flood of new horror games, and Frictional state that they worked with the specific intention of making sure that the new Amnesia game would not simply be lost in the crowd.

In this new chapter, players take on the role of Tasi Trianon, an original character who wakes up in the middle of the Algerian desert following an air crash. Tasi does not remember anything, but feels that something dark has taken residence in her mind… The journey she will need to take on will be both surprising and absolutely terrifying.

We haven’t actually played it yet, but we can assure you that even just revising the subtitles we could really feel the disquieting horror atmosphere of this new game!
